440 wheels question

MessageAuthor

Hi all, this is my first post on here -looks like a great club! Anyway - I'm close to buying my first Volvo - a facelift 440 1.8 manual (dont know what its called - Phase 2, Series 2 etc) I've got some 18inch alloy wheels from my current car (Vauxhall Astra) and would be looking at putting them on the 440. They're PCD 4 x 100 and Offset ET 38 so any ideas if they;d fit. thanks, phil

cheers mate, yeah i thought they would fit but wasn't sure. Do you mean i might need the spigot rings on to stop the wheel wobble?

RE: 440 wheels question

They'll fit, but with work. There's a fuel line on the inside of the drivers rear arch-it's highly possible that you could rub a hole in it if the wheel cathes it. when you get the car, get the wheel off and have a look. Whats the width of the wheel? Anything over 6j and you're going to get arch scrub. You'll need to get them rolled OR get the angle grinder out and trim the arches. You may also get scrub on full lock...well, you will-and scrub on the inside of the arch too. These problems will be more apparent if you lower the car...which you will have to do because it will look like a 4x4 on the standard setup with 18's! Oh, and you're speedo will need recalibrating if the diameter of the wheel/tyre is more than standard! Good luck! :)

RE: 440 wheels question

they will fit no probs the 18 inch part a the prob its the width 205 just catches the bulge out part of the rear inside body a quick smack with lump hammer cures this front wise full lock even with 15s as the 205 bit makes it rub any thing wider makes it catch springs so 4get it trust me ive got a 440 and have had 15s 16s and 17s on 195s oke dokey 205 just 225 lol no chance as had 225 45 17s and had turning circle of an oil tanker oh 40s good but crap over our roads 45 spot on 50s rub any thing bigger you must drive a 4x4 !!!! oh if they dnt fit ill buy em or swap 4 mine as ill get em to fit lol:blk_md_wht:
